The 4th match of the ongoing Legends League Cricket took place between Asia Lions and India Maharajas at Al Amerat Cricket Ground. Both the teams entered this contest on the back of one victory each and tried their best to clinch the glory. However, Asia Lions won the game by 36 runs. Mohammad Kaif led- Maharajas won the toss and called his men to take the field with the ball first. As Lions stepped into bat, they lost their opening pair consisting of Tilakaratne Dilshan and Romesh Kaluwitharana in no time.

However, Mohammad Yusuf and Upul Tharanga took the responsibilities in the middle and batted in a settled manner to boost the team’s scoreboard. While Yusuf added crucial 26 runs, Tharanga stole the show with his well-made fifty consisting of seven fours and four maximums. It was due to his 45-ball 72 that the Lions were able to post a fine total of 193 runs on the board.

All the bowlers from Maharaja’s end were taken to cleaners by the opposite side where Amit Bhandari picked two wickets for his team.

However, none of their batters took the main responsibility in the middle and they remained short of 36 runs. Other contributions in the batting lineup included 21 runs from Yusuf Pathan and 25 runs from Stuart Binny. However, they kept losing wickets in regular intervals and there came in a situation when the required run rate looked out of hand.

Nuwan Kulasekara, Mohammad Rafique, and Asghar Afghan picked two wickets each for the Lions where the Lankan bowler conceded at a stunning 3.50. Pakistan’s class pacer Shoaib Akhtar also got one wicket under his belt.
