Day 2 saw another exhilarating action of cricket at the Mohali stadium. England resumed from their overnight score of 268/8 but could only manage to add 15 runs before Shami sent both the tailenders back to the pavilion in quick succession.
Murali Vijay had another new partner in the series as Parthiv Patel walked out to bat with him. While Vijay got out early, Parthiv scored a steady 42 runs before he was trapped in front of the stumps by Adil Rashid. Initially, the umpire had presumed it as not out but the decision got overturned.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli then set India on course with a 75 run partnership for the third wicket. However, England bowlers made a strong statement after tea. Pujara, Rahane and the debutant Karun Nair were back to the hut in no time, as England bowlers gained some momentum.
Virat Kohli went on to score a half-century before he edged one to Bairstow. With India 6 down for 204 runs, Ashwin and Jadeja played batted sincerely and made sure India didn’t lose another wicket in the day as they were 271/6 at stumps. Ashwin was unbeaten on 57* while Jadeja was batting on 31*.
Adil Rashid was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets while Ben Stokes also managed to get a couple of wickets including the prized one of Virat Kohli. Overall, it was a competitive day with both India and England having their own moments.
Twitter enjoyed the Sunday evening by watching some splendid fifties by Pujara, Kohli and Ashwin. Stokes bowled a superb spell that compelled Twitter to praise him as well. Rahane got trolled for another poor outing with the bat. Here are some of the best tweets during the course of the game.

In this form, Ashwin passes the true test for an all-rounder: he can be picked either for batting or bowling.

Super half-century this by @ashwinravi99. Hasn't given it away despite the injury. Much needed stand with @imjadeja.

So, 283 not such a bad score then. And the track hasn't disintegrated yet either.
