After clean sweeping Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series, West Indies were up for the 3-match ODI challenge. Going into this series, there were quite a few talks surrounding the Bangladesh batting. The teams’ batting in the Test matches was pathetic and West Indies were considered the favourites to win the game.

However, Bangladesh finally managed to get their act right with the bat. All of their batsmen were very positive in the game which ensured that the team won the first ODI. Hence, they lead the series 1-0 after winning the game by a huge 48-run margin. However, on the other hand, the West Indies batsmen faltered with the bat in the crunch situations.

Bangladesh fans overjoyed to see their team win

Also, the Bangladesh cricket team is currently undergoing a lean patch. They lost the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Furthermore, they also lost the Test series against West Indies which left the fans quite disappointed. Hence, this left the fans utterly disappointed and were longing for a win. But, this win was definitely a sigh of relief for them and they shared their happiness on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first in the game. Opener Tamim Iqbal lit up the innings with a blistering century. He remained unbeaten on 130 and was assisted by Shakib Al Hasan who played another brilliant knock. But, he was unfortunate to have missed out on his century as Devendra Bishoo dismissed him when he was on 97. In their quota of 50 overs, Bangladesh posted 279 runs for the loss of 4 wickets on the board.

West Indies didn’t quite find the right kind of momentum in the chase. Although Chris Gayle scored 40 runs and Shimron Hetmyer scored a 52, the other batsmen failed to capitalise. They only managed to get to 231 runs in 50 overs falling short of Bangladesh’s total by 48 runs. Moreover, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza picked 4 wickets in the innings. Here is how Twitterati reacted to this win.
