Twitter Reactions Brendon Taylor, Suresh Raina hit hundreds but India wins the match:The India vs Zimbabwe match was not much talked off as the Zimbabwe team had no chance in front of a routing India. Batting first their batsmen not only scored freely but after the openers departed early successfully put the Indian bowlers under pressure.
Brendan Taylor who was playing his last international match for the nation put up his best effort and dispatched the Indian spinners all over the park. He was supported excellently by Sean Williams, Taylor scored hundred and Williams got to his 50.
This is Brendan Taylor’s second consecutive century in back to back matches; but a good comeback from the Indian pacers in the latter half of the inning pulled things back in India’s favor. The Men In Blue were set a target of 288 to chase in 50 over’s. As India reduced them to 287 all out, it is the 6th match on the trot when they have picked all ten opposition wickets.
The conditions changed a bit in the second innings with little bit more purchase for the bowlers and the Zimbabweans exploited it really well to put the Indian top order under pressure, all the top four Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane got starts but could not carry on.
Dhoni and Raina the backbone of the Indian batting stuck together and played cautiously until the chase was within reach. Raina (110*) played brilliantly for a unbeaten hundred and Dhoni (85*) initially playing the support role took charge of the proceedings towards the end and finished the match in his trademark style with a huge six.
The Twitter world was full of praises for the departing man Taylor and when everyone thought this could be Zimbabwe’s match, Dhoni and Raina pulled off a 196* runs partnership. Both of them deserve to be praised for shaping up the chase perfectly and not letting pressure get to them.
