After a decent outing on the second day, the Windies side continued their domination in the first Test against Zimbabwe on the third day as well. The visitors had posted just 219 in the first innings and that seemed to be a point of concern for them. However, the Windies camp have managed to ensure that the batting collapse in the first innings was a rare failure.
The visitors finished the third day with 369/8 on the board and a cumulative lead of 429 runs in the match. Clearly, from here on, the hosts Zimbabwe will have to break Test records in all probability if they hope to win the match. On the third day, the heroes for the Caribbean side were opener Kraigg Brathwaite and middle-order batsman Roston Chase.
Brathwaite had lost his opening partner on day 2 and the innings resumed for them on 88/1 on the third day. He batted alongside Kyle Hope for a brief partnership for the second wicket. En route the partnership, he reached his fifty. He eventually perished on 86 that came of fighting 229 deliveries with just 4 fours and a six.
The Hope brothers, Kyle Hope (43) ad Shai Hope (44), accumulated runs too. Towards the end of the day’s play, the star for the visiting side was Roston Chase. Chase managed to remain unbeaten on 91 that came off 127 deliveries with 8 fours and a six to his name. He got some support from Devendra Bishoo (44) too, the fall of whose wicket saw the stumps being called for the day.
While the Windies batsmen made merry in the game, there was very little to cheer about for the Zimbabwean bowlers who toiled hard in the basking heat. Skipper Graeme Cremer managed to pick 3 wickets while Kyle Jarvis and Sean Williams bagged two wickets each.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the day’s play:

Finally Roston Chase got a fifty today. Struggled a lot in England. Hope this fifty will lead to more. #ZimvsWindies
