In the second match for the day in Big Bash League 2019-20, Brisbane Heat locked horns with Sydney Sixers. It was a big game for Heat because they had already faced two defeats in their first two games of this season. Ahead of the match day, they suffered a major blow as their in-form opener Tom Banton was ruled out from the match due to viral. But it didn’t affect the Heat, who won the match by a margin of 48 runs.

Sydney Sixers won the toss and opted to field and it looked like the decision to field was right as their fast bowler Sean Abbott dismissed Heat opener, Max Bryant, in the second over of the innings, who was caught by Dwarshuis on the mid-wicket.

However, the happiness of Sixer bowlers couldn’t prolong because Chris Lynn, who came out to bat on number three, was in an aggressive mood. He got off the mark with a six against Abbott and didn’t look behind from that point. The right-handed batsman made the mockery of the bowlers, who smashed them all across the park. He played a swashbuckling knock of 94 runs off just 35 balls with four boundaries and 11 big sixes. However, Lynn missed his century by six runs.

Later on, a good partnership of 56 runs between Matt Renshaw (60 runs off 39 balls) and Jimmy Peirson (25 runs off 25 balls) helped Heat in posting a mammoth total of 209 runs at a loss of four wickets in stipulated 20 overs.

Coming onto the chase, Sixers got off to a poor start as they lost their both openers Daniel Hughes (8), and Josh Philippe (15) early as none of the two could manage to click a good knock with their bat. However, the middle-order batsman James Vince (39 runs off 27 balls) and Moises Henriques (20 runs off 15 balls)  tried to spend some time on the wicket in order to help their side to chase down the big total but they also failed to score big with the bat.

Heat bowling unit did a commendable job with the ball and didn’t allow much liberty to Sixers batsmen to smash them for the boundary. Mitchell Swepson turned out to be the best bowler for his side and registered good bowling figures of 2/27 on a batting-friendly wicket.

Moreover, he also got good support from the other bowlers in his team. In the end, Heat bowlers successfully restricted Sydney Sixers on 161 runs in 20 overs and won the match by a margin of 48 runs. After the match fans congratulated Sydney Sixers for their emphatic win on Sydney Sixers. Chris Lynn was also poured with wishes for his magical knock.
