West Indies avoided a whitewash against Australia as they beat them by 37 runs in the third T20I on Tuesday, February 13 at Perth Stadium, Perth. After opting to bat first, West Indies posted a massive score of 220/6 in their allotted 20 overs riding on half-centuries from Sherfane Rutherford (67* off 40) and Andre Russell (71 off 29). In reply, Australia could only reach 183/5 in their 20 overs with David Warner top scoring with 81 (49).

Australia got off to a good start in their chase as captain Mitchell Marsh (17 off 13) and David Warner added 68 runs for the first wicket off 39 balls. Marsh got dismissed by Akeal Hosein in the seventh over, however, David Warner continued to take on the attack scoring 81 off 49 balls.

Unfortunately, apart from him no other Australian batter managed to score quickly as Aaron Hardie (16 off 16), Josh Inglis (1 off 3) and Glenn Maxwell (12 off 14) departed cheaply. Only Tim David showed some fight with his knock of 41* (19), however, it wasn't enough to take his team over the line. Romario Shepherd (2/31) and Roston Chase (2/19) picked two wickets each for West Indies.

Earlier in the day, West Indies didn’t get off to a great start as they lost their opener Johnson Charles in the first over itself with four runs on the board. They further lost the big scalps of Nicholas Pooran (1 off 3) and Kyle Mayers (11 off 7) leaving their side on 17/3 after 2.5 overs. After three early blows, Roston Chase (37 off 20) and Rovman Powell (21* off 14) stabilized the innings with a 55-run stand off 30 balls.

However, they couldn’t extend their partnership beyond that falling prey to Adam Zampa and Aaron Hardie respectively leaving West Indies in all sorts of trouble at 79/5. Seeing their team in trouble, Sherfane Rutherford (67* off 40) and Andre Russell (71 off 29) bailed their team out of trouble with their massive 139-run stand off 67 balls helping West Indies reach 220/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
