The 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore take on the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, April 10.

KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field first as RCB came in to bat and opened the innings with explosive knocks by Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis. Kohli amassed 61 runs in 44 balls to his name, whereas Du Plessis notched up 79* runs in 46 deliveries.

Following Kohli's wicket, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played a sensational knock as he scored 59 off 29 and formed a formidable partnership with Du Plessis. After the end of the first innings, RCB posted 212 on the board.

Coming in to bat, the KL Rahul-led side got off to the worst of starts after man-in-form Kyle Mayers was dismissed for a duck. Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Wayne Parnell took two wickets in an over as he sent Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda packing.

However, Nicholas Pooran and impact player Ayush Badoni played blazing knocks down the order. Pooran scored the fastest half-century of the IPL 2023 so far (15 balls). The 27-year-old notched up 62 runs in 19 deliveries and was accompanied by Badoni, who scored 30 runs.

Despite the integral knocks, the match came down to the wire as Lucknow needed five runs to win in the final over. Harshal Patel had a mammoth task ahead of him, and the pacer delivered as he sent Mark Wood back to the pavilion on the second ball and then dismissed Jaydev Unadkat as well.

As the visitors required one run off the last ball, Patel attempted to run-out Ravi Bishnoi at the non-striker's end but failed to do so. In his second attempt, Avesh Khan missed to connect the yorker, but Dinesh Karthik failed to collect the ball behind the stumps cleanly as Bishnoi took the final run to take LSG to a magnificent victory by one wicket.
