Let’s take a look at the highlights from the match:

1. Gaikwad-Dube’s massive stand

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad came in to bat at a new position at number three and looked at the ease at the crease from ball one. The right-handed batter played a brilliant knock of 69 (40) with the help of five fours and as many sixes. He was well supported by Shivam Dube who joined him at the crease with CSK’s score on 60/2 after 7.5 overs. The southpaw scored an unbeaten 66 off 38 balls and added 90 runs for the third wicket with Gaikwad off just 45 balls.

2. Matheesha Pathirana’s game-changing over

Mumbai had got their chase off to a great start with openers Ishan Kishan (23 off 15) and Rohit Sharma adding 70 runs for the first wicket in seven overs. Seeing all bowlers being thrashed, captain Gaikwad brought Pathirana into the attack and the seamer immediately responded dismissing Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav (0 off 2) in his first over itself.

Later, the 21-year-old also got rid of Tilak Varma (31 off 20) and Romario Shepherd (1 off 2) to register figures of 4/28 in four overs.

3. Rohit Sharma the lone wolf in Mumbai’s chase

The MII opener continued his marvellous form in the ongoing season as he once again took the attack to the opposition in the powerplay. The right-handed batter held one end and notched up the second hundred of his IPL career. However, his innings ended in vain as MI eventually lost the match by 20 runs. Rohit remained unbeaten on 105* (63) with the help of 11 fours and five sixes.
