India locked horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan in a high-octane clash that completely lived up to its full potential. Drama, heartbreak, excitement- the match literally had everything in store for the fans as India beat arch rivals Pakistan, thanks to a ‘magical’ knock by right-hander Virat Kohli as he single-handedly won the game for the side from the jaws of defeat in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Post-match, skipper Rohit Sharma was seen walking up to the match winner himself and lifted him in excitement. Fans immediately took heed to the duo bonding and celebrating the masterclass performance displayed by the latter.

Virat Kohli wins it for Team India

It was at a point in the match that looked like India were nowhere close to the competitive total set by the Pakistani side. Team India had already lost four crucial wickets under 50 runs as the bowlers decked up the top order batters swiftly.

Enter Virat Kohli. The former India skipper took his own time to get runs on the board and kept it ticking. Hardik Pandya’s 100-plus-run stand with the former skipper completely changed the complexion of the game. Kohli, arguably the best run chaser in the world, got into his zone and dispatched a few in the stands that immediately put the pressure back on the Pakistani lads.

The drama witnessed was too much to digest for the 90,000 strong seated in the stands in the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The match went down to the last over, stretching it until the last ball where Ravichandran Ashwin, who came lower down the order, hit the final runs to hand India the victory.

It is match winning knocks like these that make a player, a legend and Virat Kohli has lived up to that tag with the unbeaten knock of 82 off just 53 balls that will go down in history as one of the greatest knocks of all time.
