The series decider between Pakistan and New Zealand lived up to the billing as the Kiwis prevailed in a thrilling encounter by two wickets to claim a memorable series victory on Pakistani soil. The series victory for the Blackcaps came after a game that swung like a pendulum. However, it was the hard-hitting Kiwi dasher Glenn Phillips, who stood tall to hand his side a historic triumph in a tense finale.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first in the series finale. However, the Pakistan top order failed to impress for a second game running as skipper Babar Azam was stumped for a third game in a row. But explosive opener Fakhar Zaman and the experienced Mohammad Rizwan steadied the ship for the hosts after those early blows.

While Fakhar went on to register a fluent century for his side, Rizwan was completely deceived by Ish Sodhi's Googly after registering a brisk half-century. The Kiwis found their way back into the match after breaking that mammoth stand for the third wicket, and it was Agha Salman's timely cameo that took the home side to a competitive score of 280 runs after their 50 overs.

Phillips the hero for New Zealand with a sensational half-century

Chasing their first ODI series victory in Pakistan, the Kiwis got off to a sedated start in the second innings. But a moment of brilliance from substitute fielder Tayyab Tahir broke the deadlock for the Men in Green. The Blackcaps were not perturbed by Finn Allen's dismissal and were looking on course for a comfortable victory as Devon Conway and Kane Willaimson brought up their respective half-centuries.

However, like they so often do, Pakistan found a way back into the game with a cluster of wickets in the middle overs. The visitors were in strife after Tom Latham was dismissed in the 39th over, with the scoreboard reading 205/6. It was Pakistan's game to win from there, but Glenn Phillips had other ideas. The middle-order dasher smashed 63 runs in just 42 deliveries in a stunning counter-attack, propelling his side to a thrilling victory in the series decider in Karachi.
