Rajasthan Royals (RR) named a few changes in the XI as Riyan Parag and Trent Boult made the cut in the clash against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT). Notably, the two finalists of the 2022 season have locked horns at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 16.

Sanju Samson-led Royals have won the toss and elected to field first in the high-octane clash. The visiting team decided to bring in Riyan Parag for Devdutt Padikkal in the XI, with the latter included in the Impact Players list. Trent Boult, too, returns to the field after missing the previous fixture due to a niggle.

For the unversed, Riyan was dropped in their most recent outing against Chennai Super Kings, as he returned a string of low scores with 7, 20 and 7 runs in the first three games. Notably, Padikkal, too, has endured an underwhelming run with the bat in the last three outings in the competition. The left-handed batter got scores of 2, 21, and 38 runs, respectively, in the three fixtures.

Despite this, the management has backed him and included his services in the XI in the hopes that he fires and delivers the goods against the Titans.

Speaking about their campaign thus far, Sanju Samson and Co. are riding high on the back of three wins in four games in the ongoing season. Moreover, the side is also on top of the points table with six points and a healthy net run rate (NRR) of 1.588.

Last season in the finals, GT emerged victorious and clinched their maiden title in their debut season, beating Rajasthan Royals. As they square off once again at the very same venue they lost the coveted title, the Sanju Samson and Co. will seek redemption and look for the crucial two points to stay on top of the table.

On the other hand, Gujarat too have been fairly decent in the lucrative T20 league as they have six points under their belt. A win against Rajasthan will see them stand atop the points table with four wins in five games. In any case, an exciting clash is on the cards and both sides will look to put their best foot forward to get to the finish line.
