MI Cape Town skipper Rashid Khan scaled a magnificent milestone in the mach number 20 of the ongoing SA20 as he completed 500 wickets in T20 cricket, however, his achievement was eclipsed by Pretoria Capital's domineering display as they defeated MI Cape Town by 52 runs to win the contest at the Newlands in Cape Town on Monday, January 23.

Only Dwayne Bravo from the West Indies has bagged more wickets than Rashid in T20 cricket. Bravo has snared 614 scalps in his career thus far.

Opting to field first, Cape Town skipper Rashid Khan and Co. were immediately on the backfoot as Pretoria openers Kusal Mendis and Will Jacks put up a show for the first wicket. The duo stitched a vital partnership of 88 runs before Mendis was dismissed at an individual score of 29 runs by Rashid Khan. Jacks played out a blistering knock of 62 runs from just 27 balls which included five maximums and as many boundaries at a strike rate of 229.62.

However, Jacks too was dismissed an over later after which Theunis de Bruyn (36 runs off 26 balls) and James Neesham (22* off 18 balls) took control of the innings and steered the side to attain a competitive total of 182 runs in their stipulated 20 overs.

One of the highlights of the match was the MI Cape Town skipper Rashid Khan scalping 500 wickets in the shortest format of the sport. He achieved the milestone after bagging up the wicket of Cylde Fortuin during the contest. Rashid returned sensational bowling figures of 3/16 in his four overs.

MI Cape Town skittle out in competitive run chase

In response to the competitive total of 182 runs set by the visitors, Cape Town lost opener Ryan Rickelton early in the contest which swiftly added pressure on young Dewald Brevis to play an instrumental knock.

Despite the early dismissal, the young sensation held his nerve and played a few good shots with the bat before the seasoned pacer Anrich Nortje claimed his wicket as he made his way back to the MI Cape Town dug out scoring 46 off 30 balls.

Sam Curran and Rassie van der Dussen, who came in the middle order tried hard to execute a rescue job but were also sent packing in quick time at scores of 22 and 24 runs respectively. Pretoria skipper Wayne Parnell along with Nortje and Adil Rashid operated in tandem to get the wickets and wrapped up the contest.
