Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns in the 35th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 20, Saturday. DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to field first.
The SRH batters demolished the Delhi bowlers from the start of their innings, seemingly validating the notion that Delhi's decision to field first was faulty. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma once again showcased their batting prowess, continuing their impressive form against Pant's side, as they have done against all opponents they have played so far this season. The opening duo led from the front, forging a formidable 131-run partnership for the first wicket.

Abhishek played a quickfire knock of 46 off just 12 deliveries before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav in the seventh over. Although he narrowly missed out on a half-century, his innings featured two boundaries and six maximums. Meanwhile, Kuldeep continues to impress with his bowling prowess, removing Aiden Markram for just one run in the same over.
Head, on the other hand, displayed resilience, hammering 89 runs off a mere 32 deliveries, including 11 fours and six sixes. Kuldeep struck again and managed to pick the wicket of the Aussie batter. Meanwhile, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy failed to make substantial contributions to the side.
Yet, Shahbaz Ahmed unleashed his power-hitting, smashing an unbeaten 59 off 29 deliveries, propelling SRH to set a mammoth target of 266 runs, ranking as the fourth-highest total in an innings this season. Ahmed's knock was studded with two fours and five maximums.
On the bowling front, Kuldeep emerged as DC's standout bowler, claiming a three-wicket haul. However, he conceded 55 runs in the process. Mukesh Kumar managed to take one wicket, but his performance was mourned as he gave away 57 runs. Meanwhile, Khaleel Ahmed and Lalit Yadav also had disappointing outings, conceding over 40 runs each and finishing with dismal economy rates.

In spite of this phenomenal start by @SunRisers, I have a feeling @DelhiCapitals have a good chance to win this game. How many of you agree?#DCvSRH

For goodness sake, PLEASE just clarify the wide ruling in Cricket! Really not so difficult.. We have technology, let’s use it properly. No need for thumb-sucking surely

We’ll know how much batting has improved when big scores are chased down more often on any surface not just roads .. goes for the 50 over as well.
