Marufa Akter's heroics in the final over helped Bangladesh tie the third and final ODI against India on Saturday, July 22, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Speaking of the game, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss and decided to bat first. The hosts got off to an explosive start, thanks to a 93-run opening stand between Shamima Sultana and Fargana Hoque. Sneh Rana, on the other hand, provided a significant breakthrough for the tourists, dismissing Shamima for 52 runs. Nigar then joined Hoque in an attempt to form another vital partnership. Meanwhile, Rana struck again, dismissing the Bangladesh captain for just 24 runs.

Fargana Hoque continued to pile on the runs keeping the momentum in check but was sent back to the pavilion in the last over when she was run out by Shafali Verma off the final delivery. The 30-year-old smashed 107 runs in 160 balls, including seven boundaries, making her the first Bangladesh batter to score a century in the 50-over format.

During the run-chase, India got off to the worst possible start as Marufa Akter sent opener Shafali Verma back to the pavilion for just four runs. However, opener Smriti Mandhana (59) held firm despite the fact that India suffered another setback when wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia was removed for a paltry score of five runs. Harleen Deol later joined Mandhana, resulting in a crucial partnership for the tourists.

When the play resumed after a rain delay, Bangladesh got the big wicket of Deol, who scored 77 runs. Meanwhile, when India needed just three runs from six deliveries, and Bangladesh needed one wicket, Marufa Akter came in to bowl the final over with Jemimah Rodriques and Meghna Singh at the crease. Akter effortlessly removed Meghna, who was caught behind the stumps by Nigar Sultana, to end India's innings for 225.

In addition, the match did not have a Super Over since the allotted time was up; thus, India and Bangladesh shared the trophy.
