Former West Indies legend, Dwayne Bravo, called it a day from all forms of cricket after playing his last competitive game at the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League representing the Trinbago Knight Riders.

There were tributes laden with admiration and esteem for the great man from all quarters of the world. After all, more than an amazing all-rounder for whichever side he played for, he was a great ambassador of the game with his on-field personality and passion being second to none.

Not too long after hanging his boots from the game, Kolkata Knight Riders made it public their decision to hire the seasoned campaigner in the capacity of a mentor ahead of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League.

As expected, this call didn't go down well with the Chennai Super Kings fans, a franchise which Bravo almost made his second home for an entire decade. Not only was he a crucial cog in the machinery of the Men in Yellow, but he had also become one of the faces of the franchises, along with being a fan-favourite amongst the CSK faithful. After CSK's long-standing rivalry with the Mumbai Indians, the CSK-KKR tussle could now become a new rivalry in the IPL sphere.

CSK supporters express heartbroken sentiments over Bravo joining KKR's roster

Social media was abuzz as soon as the decision was made official by the official handle of KKR. Although the bulk majority of fans respected Bravo's choice of going to a direct rival, quite a few of them expressed their annoyance at CSK for not going ahead with retaining one of their legends for IPL 2025.

Interestingly, Bravo retired from the IPL after the 2022 season and was immediately hired as CSK's bowling coach for the next couple of seasons. Notably, Bravo has played for TKR - who were acquired by the parent company of KKR, the Knight Riders Group - for nine long seasons in the CPL.
