India came into day two’s play in Chattogram with Shreyas Iyer (82*) looking to build a partnership with the lower-order, but Ebadot Hossain managed to bowl a peach of a delivery to rattle Iyer’s stumps in the first hour to put an end to his excellent 86-run knock. Ashwin and Kuldeep joined hands and struck a crucial partnership of 92 runs for the eighth wicket.

Ashwin reached a fluent half-century, and his 58-run knock was quite valuable in the given circumstances. Kuldeep from the other end supported him in a Brillant way. The Chinaman missed out on his maiden half-century in Tests and was dismissed for 40. Umesh Yadav hit two sixes in his unbeaten 10-ball 15 and India were bundled up for 404 in 133.5 overs. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan and Taijul picked up four wickets each.

Mohammed Siraj’s fiery spell removes top-order

Bangladesh endured a horrific start to their first innings as Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed off the very first delivery from Mohammed Siraj for a golden duck. Few overs later, Umesh Yadav struck with a blow and rattled the defences of Yasir Ali (4). Litton Das (24) and Zakir Hasan looked like playing long innings, however, the second spell from Siraj got the better of both.

Siraj's spell left the Bangladesh batters on backfoot straightaway. Kuldeep Yadav was introduced into the bowling attack in the final session and he changed the game around quickly. The left-arm spinner picked up four wickets in no time and experienced batters like Mushfiqur Rahim (28) and Shakib Al Hasan (3) also fell into his trap.

Mehidy Hasan (16*) and Ebadot Hossain (13*) added an unbeaten 31-run partnership for the ninth wicket as Bangladesh went into stumps at 133 for 8 in 44 overs. The hosts still trail by 271 runs and so far, it has been pure dominance from the Indian side.
