Pakistan overcame England by three runs in an edge-of-the-seat thriller in the fourth T20I at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday, September 25 and by the virtue of this win, the seven-match series is now tied at 2-2. The hosts kept things tight in the death overs that helped them in snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Men in Green once again showcased a poor batting performance after being put into bat first, but it was the bowlers who saved the day for them as the 2009 T20 world champions lived to see another day in this bilateral series despite defending a 160+ target on a good batting surface.

Bowlers emerge as Pakistan's saviors in their narrow win

The promising duo of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan  once again laid a solid foundation for Pakistan with a 97-run stand for the first wicket. After Babar's dismissal for 36, Rizwan got some support from Shan Masood (21), but he was the lone warrior for the hosts.

The current top-ranked T20I batter scored 88 runs off 67 deliveries. This was his third 50 of this series and despite Rizwan's gritty knock, Pakistan could only finish at 166/4. For England, Reece Topley was the pick of the bowler with figures of 2/37 while Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid picked up a wicket each.

In reply, England lost three of their top-order batters cheaply and at 57/4 in the eighth over, a humiliating defeat was on the cards for the Three Lions.

The middle-order trio of Ben Duckett (33), Harry Brook (34) and skipper Moeen Ali (29) then kept the scoreboard ticking for the visitors. Towards the end, lower-order batter Liam Dawson's quickfire 17-ball 34 almost became a difference maker.

Unfortunately for England, he was dismissed by Haris Rauf in the penultimate over after which the remaining batters could not show much resistance.

In the end, Reece Topley was run out for a duck with four balls to spare.
