Ahead of their high-voltage clash against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, the dress rehearsal has gone well for Pakistan as they have defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the first Super Four clash of the tournament. Bowling first, the Babar Azam-led side started strongly as Shaheen Shah Afridi once again picked up a wicket with the new ball. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who hit a century in the last match against Afghanistan, walked back without making a run and soon Mohammad Naim and the returning Litton Das followed suit.

After that, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim held the sinking ship and played well to bail Bangladesh out of a difficult situation. Shakib hit 53 runs and Rahim hit 64 runs as the visiting team hit 193 runs in the first innings. Haris Rauf was ruthless in the middle as the ace pacer picked up four wickets while Naseem Shah picked up three. The youngster had an injury scare in the match, but he returned back strongly, picking up two wickets at the fag end of the innings.

When it came to the chase, Fakhar Zaman once again failed to make a mark, and that’s a massive concern going forward. However, his opening partner Imam-ul-Haq returned to runs, scoring 78 runs off 84 deliveries. Babar Azam, meanwhile, failed to get going, but Mohammad Rizwan took control as he hit his 11th half-century to help Pakistan get over the line.

Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler from Bangladesh as he proved to be really economical. Taskin Ahmed was brilliant as well and hence, there are certain positives for them at the moment. Next up, the Bangla Tigers will take on Sri Lanka and India and will be hoping to get two back-to-back wins in order to keep themselves alive to qualify for the finals of the competition. Pakistan meanwhile moved to the top of the table and their next game against India on September 10 will hold a lot of importance.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Pakistan's clinical win over the Bangla Tigers:
