The second T20I between the West Indies and England, in St George's, Grenada, turned out to be a humdinger as the hosts managed to eke out a 10-run win to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first. The West Indies got off to a steady start as the opening duo of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers added 43 runs in 5.4 overs. However, in the next 16 balls, the two-time T20 World Cup champions lost four wickets for just 11 runs.

West Indies skipper Rovman Powell joined forces with King and the duo added a decisive 80-run partnership off 46 balls. The former hit a 28-ball 50, belting three fours and five sixes. After he was dismissed, Andre Russell hit a couple of lusty blows but perished soon after. King held the innings though and remained unbeaten on 82 off 52 balls as the home side finished on 176/7 in 20 overs.

England let a golden opportunity slip as they couldn't capitalize after picking up four wickets in quick succession. Adil Rashid and Tymal Mills bagged a couple of wickets each, while Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, and Rehan Ahmed chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In reply, England lost their captain early before Phil Salt and Will Jacks laid a decent platform with a 46-run partnership. Sam Curran, who conceded 38 runs in his two overs, was promoted in the batting order. The southpaw came in at No. 5 and was dismissed after scoring a fine half-century.

The game was still in the balance after the completion of the 18th over. England needed 31 runs with Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes at the crease. However, Jason Holder bowled a fantastic penultimate over as he conceded just three runs and took the wicket of Woakes. Needing an improbable 28 runs off the last over, Ali and Rehan Ahmed had to take on Russell. The star all-rounder conceded 17 runs as the West Indies won by 10 runs.

A lot of credit must be given to West Indies spinners, Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein, as they picked up three wickets between them and conceded just 33 runs in eight overs. It has to be mentioned that the West Indies fielded brilliantly and that was an important aspect of their triumph. King was adjudged Player of the Match. The third T20I takes place on Saturday, December 16 at the same venue.
