Ahead of their second match in the T20 World Cup, controversy broke in the Indian dressing room over lunch at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Following their optional training session on Tuesday (25th October), Indian cricketers were offered "cold and inadequate" food for lunch and that is what left Rohit Sharma and company disappointed.
According to reports, the dressing room menu consisted of fruits, falafel, and 'make your own sandwich,' which didn’t go well with the players. Few of the players decided to eat falafel while the rest of the players left fuming after deciding to boycott lunch at the ground. Later, they ate at the team hotel.
“The food was not up to the mark. We can’t have a sandwich after a practice session,” a member of the Indian squad told the news agency PTI. Meanwhile, as per Indian journalist Boria Majumdar, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is taking the matter seriously and hopefully the matter will be solved soon enough.
“The Indian teams food issue will hopefully be solved from today with the ICC taking cognisance of it and looking into it. The players should get Indian food at practice starting today for the entire tournament,” the renowned journalist tweeted.

Meanwhile, despite it being an optional training session, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Hooda came to the ground to prepare themselves ahead of their game against the Netherlands. After a closely fought victory over arch-rivals Pakistan, India will take on the Scott Edwards-led side on October 27
On the eve of their clash against the Dutch side, team India called off their scheduled practice session, which was scheduled to happen in Blacktown, a suburb in Sydney. However, the Men in Blue didn’t want to travel for 42 kilometers for a practice session and thus will relax at the team hotel.
In the meantime, there were rumours of Hardik Pandya not playing the match against Netherlands. However, the bowling coach of the Indian team, Paras Mhambrey denied all the rumours and confirmed that the 29-year-old will take part in the match.

Why organise such an event in the first place when you don’t have cricket infrastructure in place !!
Gone are the days when one used to think that the Western countries offer so good hospitality. India are way ahead of most western countries when it comes to providing hospitality of the highest standards.

Team India unhappy about the food which was served in Sydney. They complained to the ICC about the cold sandwiches.

Is Australian Cricket board running out of money! They can't even serve decent food to our players and Aussies earn crores in IPL.

It's a ICC tournament so all the facilities are given by icc ... And for playing ground since there are some wc matches conducted in scg that's why they have to go 42kms away for practice .... In same Sydney Netherlands are going 58kms away for practice 🤷🤷
