English all-rounder Natalie Sciver was roped in by the Mumbai Indians at the inaugural Women's Premier League auctions as they continue to buy big players. After getting Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in their side for 1.8 crore, 30-year-old Sciver is next, as she was brought in for a whopping 3.2 crore.
Just like Harmanpreet, Sciver was also one of the players in the 50 lakh base price bracket. After yet another bidding war with the Delhi Capitals, and the UP Warriorz, MI were once again victorious as they roped in Sciver as well. The 30-year-old has been one of the most integral players for the English side over the years.
Seeing Sciver’s recent performances, Mumbai Indians' breaking the bank for her can be justified. The team will hope that she can convert her international form when she gears up to play for MI at the tournament.
Sciver is very close to reaching 2000 runs and has 78 wickets in the shortest format. With her explosive batting and her repertoire with the ball, she could prove to be an essential player for the Mumbai Indians in the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League.
Sciver was influential for England as they beat the West Indies at the T20 World Cup
At the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup, England faced the West Indies in the second match of the tournament. West Indies Women managed to score 135 runs after 20 overs thanks to the knocks of Hayley Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle, who scored 42 and 34 runs, respectively.
However, it was a walk in the park for the English side as they chased the target in just 14.3 overs. The performance of Nat Sciver earned her the Player of the Match award. The 30-year-old played a very important knock of 40 off 30 balls and bowled two overs well, where she conceded 14 runs without taking a wicket.
