Delhi Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan won the toss as they elected to field first against the Gujarat Lions. While DD brought in Rishab Pant and Shabad Nadeem, GL had James Faulkner and Ishan Kishan coming in. Batting first, Gujarat got off to a flier. They scored 18 runs in the first over by Zaheer Khan. The exploits continued by both the destructive openers Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum. They went on to smash 71 runs in the powerplay as Zaheer went for 40 runs in his first 3 overs.
Smith made a magnificent 53 runs from 30 deliveries while McCullum blazed his way to 60 runs from just 36 balls. However once both the openers got out, a collapse triggered for the Gujarat Lions.
Suresh Raina got out trying to tuck a short ball into the corner. The wickets kept falling as Ravindra Jadeja, Ishan Kishan, and Dinesh Karthik failed to inspire any confidence and the scoring rate of the Gujarat Lions suffered. However, Faulkner’s cameo of 22 from 13 balls steered them to 172/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
While Imran Tahir was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Daredevils as he struck thrice, Chris Morris also managed to take two wickets. Delhi made a wonderful comeback considering the platform that McCullum and Smith had set.
Twitter kept everyone entertained with some superb tweets throughout the match. Right from lauding the Gujarat openers in the beginning to trolling their middle order, from trolling Zaheer Khan to lauding Tahir and Morris. Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
* First 10 overs * bats swinging & turning!
* Next 10 overs * ball swinging & turning!#DDvGL— Sunil- The Cricketer (@1sInto2s) April 27, 2016
After blistering start by McCullum and Smith, Delhi's comeback thru Tahir impressive. But with 160+ does Gujarat have enough runs already?

If Tahir got a hat-trick he would have stopped running only in Gurugram.

Are they sending Jadeja in as some sort of strategic time out nightwatchman…? #ipl

GL inngs is a throwback to an era when DD laced with Sehwag and KP used to sanction and subject oppositions to similar fates at Kotla #DDvGL

The only good thing about Delhi's bowling today is that they have not conceded any extras till now

42 for CSK

If you play three other spinners, and have Duminy too, is Negi a spinner or a batsman? Guess ##DD are playing him as a batsman!
