Dhaka Dynamites thumped Khulna Titans the other night at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium in this edition’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Shakib Al Hasan’s men carried on with their impressive run of form as they got over Khulna Titans by a mammoth 105 runs. The Titans, on the contrary, lost their second match of the T20 tournament and have plenty of work to do going ahead.

Zazai plays another blinder

After the Titans won the toss and opted to field first, Hazratullah Zazai and Sunil Narine took the Dynamites to a dynamic start with a stand of 67 runs in 31 balls. David Wiese broke the partnership with Narine’s wicket. At the other end, the hulk-like Zazai, after his fifty against the Titans, churned out another half-century and scored 57 runs from 36 deliveries with three fours and five sixes.

Rony Talukdar was promoted up the order and he played a knock of 28 from 18 balls with three fours and a couple of sixes. Captain Shakib couldn’t contribute and he perished for a golden duck to off-spinner Paul Stirling. A 16-ball 27 from Kieron Pollard helped Dhaka Dynamites to 192 for six. Andre Russell smacked three sixes, but could score only 25 runs from 22 balls at a tad over a run-a-ball.

Titans crumble significantly

Shakib picked up Stirling in the second over as the Titans got off to the worst possible start. Junaid Siddique looked ominous but became Shakib’s third victim after he scored 31 runs with one four and three sixes. Prior to that, he also got rid of Jahurul Islam, who was promoted up the batting order. Shuvagata Hom picked up the prized wicket of skipper Mahmudullah inside the first 10 overs.

The Titans found themselves five-down in the ninth over when Mohor Sheikh, playing his second encounter, accounted for Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s wicket. Thereafter, things went downhill for the Titans as they were shot out for a paltry 87 runs in 13 overs. Apart from Shakib’s three-wicket haul,  Narine also picked up the wickets of Shafiul Islam and Jahurul. Hom and Mohor got one wicket haul.
