Twitter Reactions: Dhoni MoM of the Help for Heroes charity match: The Oval hosted a grand charity match with the star studded teams and a jam-packed stadium yesterday. The Rest of the World XI v Help for Heroes XI was greeted by 20,000 people in the last night’s Cricket for Heroes T20 clash in Surrey, England. Nearly $650,000 were raised for Help for Heroes, a UK military charity as Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit the winning four for his team Help for Heroes. Chasing the target of 159 runs Heroes defeated the Rest of the World XI led by Brendon McCullum by 4 wickets.
Some of the most admired cricketers from around the world participated in the match last night. Virender Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, Mathew Hayden, Graeme Smith, Brian Lara and former England captain Andrew Strauss among others thrilled the crowd at the Oval. Strauss captained the victorious team of Heroes.
Teams for the night were selected by the English legend Alan Lamb whereas coached by legends like Michael Holding, David Gower, Sunil Gavaskar and Gary Kirsten. The Kiwi hard hitter McCullum wore a Go-Pro for a large part of his time on the crease capturing Jayawardene’s master class innings who was batting at the other end. Dhoni in the end bagged the Man of Match award.
