Twitter Reactions: England beat Afghanistan to keep their World T20 hopes alive

Afghanistan almost managed to take down England in a fierce encounter at the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium in New Delhi. English captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to field first. They made a couple of changes in the squad and brought in James Vince and Liam Plunkett.
England lost Jason Roy early as they raced their way to 41/1 in the first 5 overs. However, Mohammed Nabi struck twice in the next over, almost pulling off a hat-trick and a confusion leading to a run out slumped England’s score to 42/4.
The English batsmen struggled against spin as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Moeen Ali along with David Willey revived the England’s total to 142/7 as they scored 25 runs off the penultimate over.
Afghanistan had their hopes heavily relied on Mohammed Shahzad who they lost in the very first over. They failed to hold on any momentum while batting as the English bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. They had some chances but the England bowlers did well to pull of a victory in this game.
Shenwari and Shafiq showed some promise while batting but by that time the run rate was way over manageable and it became difficult for Afghanistan to accomplish the target. In the end, they lost the match by 15 runs but not without giving a fight.
Moeen Ali won the man of the match for his all-round performance. Twitter kept everyone entertained right from trolling England for their dismal batting to lauding Afghanistan’s fighting spirit. Here are some of the Twitter reactions during the game
I hope #AFG does not take their opponent lightly today.https://t.co/eiOai1jKoF #AFGvENG #WT20

Hmm … England's decision to bat first looks a touch bullish at this stage. #WT20

An expensive over for #AFG. 14 runs from that one! 41/1 after 5! #AFGvENG #WT20

Nabi might be the best ordinary bowler I have ever seen in T20.

Afghanistan looking good again. England looking vulnerable to slow bowling at the Kotla. And now, Root gone too!

Nabi is even the greatest bowler for run outs I’ve seen. Even pulled the sucker move there.

Always trust #ENG to promote the cause of associates in world events. You go, guys! #WT20

Very vital for #AFG to keep pressure. They can not just beat #ENG but hammer them and that would hurt their NRR too
— Nikhil ? (@CricCrazyNIKS) March 23, 2016
Heck, Afghanistan playing havoc with England! Is there an escape route still available?
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) March 23, 2016
25 run off the over and that should give England the momentum #WT20
— Nikhil Mane ??? (@nikhiltait) March 23, 2016
England just scored more runs in the 19th over than they did in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th put together.

#ENG fight back to make 142/7, after #AFG bowling brilliance.

Afghanistan should pad up Inzamam. #WT20

Zaheer Khan told in the innings break that inexperience in such games will effect Afghanistan if Shahzad gets out early. #True

You can almost imagine the #afg players sitting there thinking 'we are sitting with Inzy'… #wt20 #afg #eng

#AFG have looked great for big chunks of this WT20 but then faded. Way that stops happening is more games. Shame that they won't get them

#ENG sneak over the line to a 15-run win over #AFG to avoid an upset defeat and #WT20 exit. https://t.co/Ifx1sChBbB pic.twitter.com/CefNOuDVC9
