Twitter Reactions: Fans react to the ‘Orange jersey’ of Team India

BCCI has officially unveiled India's away jersey the players would sport against England on Sunday.

The ICC, before the start of the tournament, has introduced a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys. Apparently, the host country gets the preference for the jersey colour and the away team needs to sport a different colour.

The ICC rule reads: “For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match.”

Teams like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan have already sported home and away jerseys now. However, the away jersey of Team India has raised a lot of anticipation. Ever since this announcement was made, the speculations have been rife about the design of the jersey for the team. While it has been conjectured that the team will don ‘Orange’ colour, there has been a great deal of excitement about the design. Over the last few days, several fan-made designs have emerged on social media.

The jersey is finally revealed

However, the BCCI didn’t give a clue about it and the design of the jersey remained a secret up until today. On Friday, just two days ahead of the clash against England, the apex board in the country took it to its social media platforms to reveal the jersey putting curtains to the excitement.

This jersey is predominantly in orange colour with dark blue on the collar and on the front side. Over the last few years, the team has never worn the jersey that was dominated by any other colour than blue.

Twitterati has got mixed reactions for the jersey

India is all set to don this jersey for the game against England on Sunday. Since the hosts will also be wearing a blue colour jersey, India cannot go ahead with the same colour.
