A little cameo at the end by Ashton Agar helped Scorchers win their game against Finch-led Melbourne Renegades. Scorchers now go at the top of the points table. Perth Scorchers have been a side which loves to defend the totals. After winning the toss against Melbourne Renegades, they opted for the same and they had brought Mitchell Johnson into the side. Marcus Harris started the innings with a bang when he smacked 3 boundaries in David Willey’s 1st over.

Johnson struck in the 2nd over on return when he sent Finch back to the pavilion. Harris was joined by Cameron White. Both of them combined for a brilliant partnership of 65 runs. After the wicket of Finch, the two played out three overs without any risky shots. The final over of the powerplay yielded 22 runs as Harris went for the assault after seeing his counterpart White hitting a Six, Harris hit 2 fours and a four himself in that Richardson over. They again played a couple of quiet overs and then went bang bang in an Agar over where White hit 2 fours and a six. Harris fell for 48 off just 28 balls.

Cameron White was joined by Tom Cooper who got an early life when wicketkeeper Inglish dropped easiest of catch. After few quite overs during the middle overs, both White and Cooper decided to change the gear as the two smacked 60 runs in the last 5 overs. Both of them completed their half-centuries during their brilliant partnership of 98 runs which ended on the second last ball of the innings. Cooper hit 4 sixes and 5 fours in his innings of 57 off just 34 deliveries while White remained not out for 68 runs as the Renegades posted a total of 185.

The Run Chase

Afghanistan spinners have dominated the Big Bash with the ball in the hand and Renegades spinner Mohammed Nabi continued the domination as he removed Klinger in the first over itself. David Willey along with Hilton Cartwright stabilized the Scorchers’ innings and then later blasted his way to his half-century by smacking a six and a four off Brad Hogg who was playing his last over at WACA. Cartwright went early but Ashton Turner who joined Willey started the attack straightaway. Willey got out after his half-century where he smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes.

It was Ashton Turner who demolished the attack of Renegades with a brilliant attacking cricket. Turner hit 5 sixes and 3 fours in his innings of 70 which is blasted off just 32 balls. Bravo ran out Turner to turn the game around a bit in the favor of Renegades but Ashton Agar hit a six off Bravo and a four off Richardson’s first ball of 19th over.

Scorchers needed 3 runs off last over which was being bowled by Mohammed Nabi who bowled two consecutive dot balls but Agar eventually won the game for the Scorchers.
