The match between Bengal Tigers and Maratha Arabians in the T10 League in Sharjah turned out to be a one-sided affair as the latter won by nine wickets with ten balls to spare. Meanwhile, the Tigers lost their first game of the event after demolishing Northern Warriors. On the contrary, Arabians made an incredible comeback following their poor show against Punjabi Legends.

Bowlers restrict the Tigers

Maratha won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision paid dividends as they restricted Bengal to a modest score of 91 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Jason Roy, the English batsman, scored 27 runs from 15 balls with two boundaries and as many sixes, but apart from that none of the other batsman was able to get going as went wickets down way too quickly.

Sherfane Rutherford smacked a couple of sixes and eventually fell prey speedster, James Faulkner. Mohammad Nabi, Aamer Yamin and Chirag Suri got into double figures, however, they couldn’t take their team to a competitive score. Faulkner picked two wickets while Rashid Khan, Roel of van de Merwe, Richard Gleeson and Dwayne Bravo got one wicket each.

Zazai wreaks havoc

The run-chase was panned out to be equivalent to a cakewalk for the Arabians. Hazratullah Zazai and Alex Hales opened the batting and the duo put on 91 runs for the first wicket in merely eight overs. Zazai, in particular, was the aggressor in the stand as he scored 76 runs from 35 balls and his knock was laced with 10 boundaries and four monstrous blows into the stands.

Hales strained a wee bit and managed only 15 runs from 13 balls. Nevertheless, Zazai’s blitz ensured that Maratha always had their nose ahead. Retired Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan accounted for the wicket of Zazai, but that was nothing more than a consolation for the Bengal Tigers. Rashid Khan came in to bat at number three and he remained not out along with Hales.
