India were authoritative the other night against Pakistan and they displayed even a more resounding performance today by beating the Men in Green by nine wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Moreover, Rohit Sharma and Co also sealed a berth in the final of the 2018 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Their last encounter in the Super 4 is against Afghanistan at the same venue.
Malik and Sarfraz rescue Pakistan
After Pakistan winning the toss and deciding to bat, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman couldn’t step up once again and were nipped out by Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav respectively. Babar Azam, who scored a superlative half-century against Afghanistan succumbed to a shambolic mix-up that led to his run out. Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik were in with a lot of responsibility.
The duo showed maturity and put on 107 for the fourth wicket. Kuldeep Yadav got rid of Sarfraz to break the partnership. Thereafter, Asif Ali churned out some lusty blows to inject impetus into the innings. Malik went on to score 78 runs from 90 balls and eventually fell prey to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Pakistan finished with 237 for the loss of seven wickets.
Rohit and Dhawan blaze away ย
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opened the batting and looked at ease from the outset. Shaheen Afridi created an opportunity to get the better of Rohit, but Imam dropped a sitter to give the batter a reprieve. Fakhar Zaman also grassed a sitter to present the batsman a second lifeline. The 31-year-old made them pay a hefty price and notched up his 19th century in ODIs.
On the other hand, Dhawan creamed the bowling and didn’t give Pakistan a sniff of an opportunity to pin him. Even he scored his 15th century in the 50-overs format. In the meantime, the heads of the Pakistani cricketers steadfastly went down. India eventually lost one wicket and traced the target down with 63 balls to spare. Moreover, India made it 2-0 against their arch-rivals in this Asia Cup.

One sided matches getting an all new definition. Thereโs a context in the #AsiaCup but not too many contests thus far. #IndvPak

Shaheen Afridi's pre-match request to his team-mates "please bhaiyon, ek pakadna, meherbaani hogi…" Such a fine prospect but no support in the field.
