After former English spinner Graeme Swann, it was Kevin Pietersen’s turn to hit out at Pakistan paceman Mohammad Amir. In his column in The Telegraph, KP wrote, “Any sportsman or woman caught match-fixing, spot-fixing or taking drugs should be banned for life. They have broken the rules, should pay the price and not be given a second chance.”

“People always deserve a second chance in life but sport is different. We are paid to play a sport we love and are damn lucky to lead the life of a professional cricketer. To try to gain an advantage by taking drugs or devaluing your sport by being bribed is breaking the 11th and 12th commandments. There can be no way back.” Said Kevin.

KP further explained his statement that some of the subcontinent players, who come from villages will do anything to earn more money and to give their family a better life.

“I understand that on the subcontinent players come from villages where there is poverty and deprivation. The chance to escape the village and give their family a better life is something they will do anything for. They get the chance to play international cricket and earn massive sums of money and are exposed to temptation. But to bowl a no ball for £50,000 (NZ$90,000) to earn more money is just greed.“

Earlier, Graeme Swann faced harsh criticism on Twitter after sharing his opinion on Amir. “Mohammad Amir will walk out on the green and glorious turf at Lord’s on Thursday — and it will make me feel sick,” Swann wrote in his recent column. “This is a man who crushed the morality of the game. And yet he is being allowed back to play at the Home of Cricket. Amir should have been banned for life for his part in the corruption scandal of 2010.” The former off-spinner had said.

On Tuesday morning , KP took to Twitter to share his article on Twitter, “Some of you might disagree, but guess how much I care…? DON’T CHEAT IN ANY SPORT” tweeted Pietersen.

Twitterati’s reaction to KP’s tweet was mixed. Some of the cricket fanatics agreed with the former three lions player while Amir supporters disagreed with him. Here are some of the replies on KP’s column.
