After a disappointing loss in their previous game, the Cape Town Blitz managed to bounce back against the Jozi Stars. For the second time this season, they managed to defeat this opposition. Liam Livingstone, with the bat, was the star after the Blitz were asked to bat first. It took an exceptional effort on a tough batting track to help them get to 183 runs in 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock took the team off to a positive start with some great batting. The wicket-keeper batsman put the team in the commanding position in the powerplay with a 21-ball 41. However, Janneman Malan could only score 10 runs in this match. Marques Ackerman, who got his opportunity in this game, played the second fiddle and build a great partnership with Liam Livingstone. The England cricketer raced his way to 65 off 41 balls. Towards the end, Wahab Riaz provided the team with the final impetus by remaining unbeaten on 29 off only 13 balls.

The Jozi Stars were hit by a big blow right in the first over. Anrich Nortje managed to breach the gate of Chris Gayle and bowled him for a duck. Their star batsman Reeza Hendricks was also outdone by Dale Steyn. Skipper Temba Bavuma did try his best to get the team close to the target. But he hardly got any support from the other batsmen. Rassie van der Dussen, who is extremely important for the side in the middle order, also got out for a golden duck.

Bavuma alone scored almost 50 per cent of the team’s score before Anrich Nortje dismissed him for 62 off 42 balls. The second-highest score in the innings was from Simon Harmer who mustered 20 runs. In 16.2 overs, Jozi Stars got bowled out for 126 runs. They will surely regret the fact that they couldn’t keep wickets in hand as they might have got much closer had they played all the 20 overs.

Twitterati enjoyed the bowling display from Sisanda Magala who got three wickets in just two overs. They also applauded Anrich Nortje for the two big wickets. Liam Livingstone was another player who got a lot of praise and appreciation from the fans.
