In the final ODI at Cardiff, the cricketing world got to witness a brilliant run chase by the ever-unpredictable Pakistan. Earlier in the day, it was captain Azhar Ali who won the toss as Pakistan elected to field first. Amir and Malik were back in the Pakistan XI while Woakes, Wood and Dawson came in for the final game.
Jason Roy began things quite smoothly as England cruised to a quickfire start. However, the middle order kept tumbling before he eventually had Stokes at the other end. Roy went on to score a scintillating innings of 87 runs with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes.
After Roy got out, Stokes took on the Pakistan bowlers as he too raced his way to a superb half century, scoring 75(76). His wicket triggered a collapse as the lower order struggled to hit out in the death overs. England managed to score 302/9 in their quota of 50 overs.
Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers as he got 4 wickets. On the other hand, Amir also picked up 3 wickets. Gul and Wasim also got one wicket each. The Pakistani bowlers pulled up quite well in the end after conceding some in the beginning.

Pakistan came out to bat with nothing to lose. They were reduced to 77/3 as Wood struck twice in an over. What followed was a complete turnaround by Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik. Both put on 163 runs for the fourth wicket as they had Pakistan on the driver’s seat.
While Malik scored a magnificent 77 runs, Sarfaraz also played a gem of a knock for his 90(73), missing out on a well-deserved hundred. However in the end, what mattered was Pakistan winning the game by 4 wickets as they rode on their splendid performances.
Sarfaraz got the man of the match while Root was rewarded the man of the series. Twitter kept everyone entertained with some interesting tweets throughout the Cardiff ODI. Right from lauding Roy to trolling the English lower order, right from lauding Sarfaraz and Malik to trolling English bowling, here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game.
