Banters on Twitter have become a normal phenomenon. Often it is fans taking digs at each other and sometimes even the players take friendly jibes across the board. However, things took an ugly turn as former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs tried to poke one at India‘s Ravichandran Ashwin.

While Ashwin was promoting a shoe brand on Twitter, Gibbs tried to see the funny side of it. He hoped that this would help Ashwin run faster since he’s known to be slow. However, the Indian off-spinner had a really blunt response that left everyone shocked.

“Surely not as fast as you did mate, unfortunately, I wasn’t as blessed as you were. But I was blessed with a wonderfully ethical mind not to fix games which put food on my plate.” Ashwin tweeted so as the whole Twitterati was taken aback by that.

Gibbs tried to be the better person and slipped off. However, Ashwin went out to give clarifications over his tweet and deemed it as a joke. As usual, Twitter showed it’s creativity in trolling Ashwin. Many felt that he crossed the line and shouldn’t have made personal remarks on the former South African opener. Others also took the opportunity to troll his association with Chennai Super Kings, since the franchise was banned on charges of corruption.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Ashwin’s comment on Gibbs:
