Twitter Reactions: Rohit Sharma dazzles in Mumbai with his 21st ODI century
While Kohli failed to score big today, Rohit didn't miss out on the opportunity.

Rohit Sharma started the Indian innings with a boundary off the very first delivery. The ball was wide and asking to be hit to which India’s vice-captain obliged. It ensured that Rohit had made up his mind to play a big knock today at his home ground. Though it was not Wankhede Stadium, the Brabourne was kind enough to witness a blazing inning from him.
With the series locked at 1-1, the fourth ODI gained a lot of importance suddenly which many wouldn’t have thought. Also, Rohit wanted to shrug off his twin failures and Mumbai couldn’t have been a better venue to do so. After opting to bat first, he along with Shikhar Dhawan provided a more than decent start to the team. In the power play itself, Hitman had brought his lofted flick shot to the fore which went for a huge 99 metre six.
However, the wickets of Dhawan and for a change, Virat Kohli, the scoring understandably dipped. Rohit also decided to dig in and didn’t take any risks manoeuvring the ball in the gap rotating the strike.
A sudden shift in scoring rate
Just when one thought that the scoring rate was going down at an alarming rate, Rohit Sharma eked out 15 runs of Rovman Powell’s over who was bowling well until then. He played his shots wisely and made sure that Ambati Rayudu at the other end was never under the pressure. The middle-order is being tested to the hilt in this series and it was important for Rohit to make sure that he stays at the crease.
Slowly but surely, the 31-year-old crossed the 80-run mark and upped the ante. He was clever enough not to give away an opportunity of scoring big today and surpassed the three-figure mark in the 33rd over of the innings with a trademark cut shot off the backfoot.
The man himself expressed his elation after reaching to his 21st ODI ton and soaked in all the applause from the crowd even as his wife Ritika Sajdeh was also delighted.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to his superb knock:
