Twitter Reactions: Scotland make it two in a row with 17-run victory over Papua New Guinea

The Scotland side beat the Papua New Guinea side in the 5th Match of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers. The Papua New Guinea outfit was set a target of 166 for victory by Scotland, but the Assad Vala-led side was bowled out for 148.

The Papua New Guinea side got off to a horrid start and lost its first 5 wickets with just 35 runs on the board. Norman Vanua kept the fight going for his side, and scored a 37-ball 47. Apart from Vanua, Sese Bau chipped in with 24 off 23 deliveries. But in the end, the Papua New Guinea side fell short of the target by 17 runs, as Scotland posted their second victory on the trot.

On the bowling front, Josh Davey was outstanding with the ball for the Scotland outfit. The right-arm pacer scalped 4 wickets in the 3.3 overs that he bowled, and gave away runs at an economy rate of just 5.14 runs per over.

Apart from Davey, the likes of Alasdair Evans, Bradley Wheal, Mark Watt, and Chris Greaves chipped in with a wicket each as well. With this victory, the Scotland side has moved to the top of the points table in Group B.

Richie Berrington’s blistering 70 helps Scotland post a total of 165/9

Batting first, the Scotland cricket team posted a total of 165/9 on the board. And, it was Richie Berrington’s blazing 49-ball 70 that helped the Scotland side to that total.

The Scotland side lost both their openers with just 26 runs on the board. But then, Matthew Cross and Berrington stepped up for their side and stitched together a partnership of 92 runs for the 3rd wicket. Cross, on his part, scored a fluent 45 off 36 deliveries.

With the ball, Kabua Morea was the pick of the bowlers. The left-arm pacer scalped 4 wickets in his quota of 4 overs and leaked 31 runs. Apart from Morea, Chad Soper also picked up 3 wickets as well.
