Former Pakistani batsman Shahid Afridi has been one of the most explosive batsmen the world has ever seen. However, he has often been deemed to be brash and outlandish for the reason that he tends to gift his wicket away to rash strokes. However, the cricketer doesn’t seem to get flustered by the opinions and has trod the unflinching route while batting.

In the T20 format, the Khyber Agency-born cricketer boasts off 224 sixes, numbers which manifests his ability to smash the bowlers at will. The 37-year-old is currently playing for Paktia Panthers in the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL). He is the only Pakistani cricketer taking part in the T20 event but hasn’t had much to cheer thus far.

Afridi couldn’t deliver with the bat

In the first match against Kabul Zwanan, he got out for one and then went on to concede 55 runs in his quota of four overs. In the next two encounters against Nangarhar Leopards and Balkh Legends, the 37-year-old scored 20 runs and picked up only a solitary wicket. His campaign turned from bad to worse in the Panthers’ third match against Kandahar Knights in Sharjah.

After the Panthers won the toss and elected to bat first, Afridi came to bat with his side reeling at 5/69 in the 10th over. Nevertheless, the veteran didn’t curb his natural instincts and went for a heave over the off-side in his fourth delivery off chinaman bowler Waqar Salamkheil, who dismissed Samiullah Shenwari in the third delivery of the same over.

Afridi went after the cherry with all his might, but couldn’t time it properly. As a result, the ball hung in the air for quite a while and opposition skipper Asghar Afghan took an impressive running-catch. Subsequently, the Panthers lost their sixth wicket inside the 10th over. In the meantime, Twitter bashed Afridi for bagging yet another duck in competitive cricket.
