Twitter Reactions: Shane Watson and David Wiese take the best catch of IPL

Delhi Daredevils were in chasing a huge total of 191 runs that the Royal Challengers Bangalore had set them after DD skipper Zaheer Khan invited them to bat first. Coming in to outscore them, the Daredevils had a lot of expectations on their openers Quinton de Kock and Shreyas Iyer to give them a good start and set them up for the big chase. It was S Arvind who started the proceedings for RCB and after accumulating 10 runs in the first two balls de Kock gave the strike to Iyer. The Mumbai lad edged a slower ball from Arvind, but it dropped short of the wicketkeeper; on the very next ball, he tried to go big and looked to hit it over the mid-on boundary for a biggie. But Shane Watson chased the ball and then a tag team effort with David Wiese saw them complete a stunner.

The ball lobbed high in the air, Watson stationed at mid-on paddled back facing the ball, and then extended himself fully to grab it with both hands. He had sprint a little too hard and feared he would run over the boundary and so decided to push it back in the direction of his partner David Wiese, who was also following Watto and the ball. The ball went a little away from Wiese and he put in a full-length dive to take the catch. He slid along as well and managed to stop himself millimeters away from the fence. He was so close that the goggles that fell off from his head landed on the ropes.

Iyer couldn’t believe it and the umpires went for the referral, they checked but it was clean and one of the best efforts we have seen on the field in some time. A few on Twitter termed it the best catch of the season while others felt this is the best catch they have ever seen in the league. Here is how twitter reacted to the Watto-Wiese effort.
