Twitter Reactions: Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal get trolled for their funny run out: Pakistan played England in the 1st T20I of the 3-match series at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE. Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first and posted 160, a total that looked tough for Pakistan given their chasing characteristic even before the innings started. And that is what happened; early and regular wickets never let them stay in the fray for the contest. In the 12th over we witnessed probably one of the funniest forms of run-out, as in the end the TV umpire had to decide who among Shoaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal was short of his crease.
It was the 2nd ball of the 11th over, left-arm spinner Stephen Parry was bowling to Umar Akmal. He tried to pull it and the ball went to the mid-wicket fielder, and after a yes, no, let’s go, both the batsmen eventually ended up sprinting towards the non-striker’s end. Both of them extended themselves to make it inside the line before the other.
Even the umpire was unsure and thus referred it to the third umpire to check for the review and pass the decision. Reviews suggested Maqsood was able to get his bat in before Akmal’s made it in and thus he had to take the long walk back. One of the most comical run-outs we have come across in recent times, where the players weren’t interested in giving importance to team spirit and it was their wicket that was of importance at that moment.
Both of them had to trend and were trending on Twitter for this run-out and got trolled, here are the Twitter Reactions:
