Twitter Reactions: Soumya Sarkar skillful catch at the boundary ropes

Bangladesh began their Super 10 stage campaign against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Bangladeshis put a very great effort today in the field and one such eye ball grabbing effort was the stunning catch pulled off by Soumya Sarkar in the outfield to dismiss Mohammad Hafeez.

Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez were batting dominatingly. The Bangladeshi bowlers had no idea whether how to contain the duo who were scoring freely. Both had stitched 95 runs stand together before Sarkar’s amazing catch put brakes on the partnership.

Hafeez (64 from 42 balls) played a strong slog sweep. The shot was flat looked to be heading headed for a six over midwicket. But, then comes Soumya into the scene. He runs towards his left and grabs the ball with both the hands. The momentum, however, takes him back and over the boundary ropes. But, Sarkar keeps his head cool and throw the ball in the air. He quickly gets back inside the ropes and completes the catch. He had not thrown the ball upwards properly and the ball seemed to be dropping inside the ropes. However, Sarkar made it inside just in time and completed the catch.

The brilliant effort ended Hafeez’s stay and Bangladesh were able to get a crucial breakthrough. Bangladesh cricket have raised their cricketing standards drastically. Their batsman, bowler as well as fielding which used to sloppy in the past are absolutely top class in the past couple of years.
