The Sunrisers Hyderabad extended their dominating run in the ongoing edition of the IPL. The table toppers consolidated their top spot with yet another crushing win. Coming into their clash against the Delhi Daredevils in Delhi, many had apprehensions about SRH’s approach in the run chases. Well, at the end of the game, it is safe to say that there is nothing that the Orange Army cannot do this season. They successfully chased down 187 to seal a comfortable win. Also, the win ends the hopes of Delhi Daredevils this season.

Earlier in the game, the Delhi Daredevils skipper Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and opted to bat first. Iyer did not want the Sunrisers Hyderabad fancy their chances in defending a total in the season again. The move from Iyer largely backfired with both the openers – Prithvi Shaw and Glenn Maxwell – getting dismissed on two successive deliveries bowled by Shakib Al Hasan in the fourth over.

Iyer was run out cheaply as well and the DD innings looked in dire straits. It was just then that the Rishabh Pant show began. The youngster broke several records and almost singlehandedly played the innings for his side. He became the youngest cricketer to complete 1000 runs in IPL. Also, he went on to score a magnificent century, only the third ton of IPL 2018.

Pant became the second youngest cricketer to score an IPL hundred. Pant hammered an unbeaten 128 off just 63 deliveries with 15 fours and 7 sixes to his name. He thrashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 26 runs in the final over of the innings to see Delhi Daredevils finish with 187/5 in their 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the wicket of Alex Hales early in the innings. But that did not bog down the spirits of the visitors. Shikhar Dhawan(92*), who had been out of form leading up to the game, ended up playing a match winning knock for his side. He was well supported by the in-form SRH skipper, Kane Williamson (80*). The two batsmen scored unbeaten fifties to guide SRH to yet another comprehensive win. Both were unlucky to have missed out on their respective centuries.
