India continued their dominance against England in the ongoing Test at Vizag and looked in a commanding position by the end of the 3rd day. Beginning the day at 103/5, the English batting order flourished in the morning session as the duo of Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow scored fluent half-centuries to share an 110 run partnership for the 6th wicket.
Umesh Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow with a terrific yorker and it was just the much-needed break, the hosts needed before going into lunch. Ravi Ashwin again stormed back into form with a five-wicket haul after a disappointing performance in the Rajkot Test. Just after lunch, the No.1 spinner in the world trapped Ben Stokes right in front of the stump that triggered an English collapse. The visitors conceded a lead of 200 runs to India getting bundled out for 255.
Stuart Broad playing in his 101st Test got rid of Murali Vijay and Lokesh Rahul early and was ably supported by James Anderson who rattled the stumps of Cheteshwar Pujara to reduce India to 39/3 in their 2nd essay. Captain Virat Kohli who has been in scintillating form continued his brilliant display with the bat scoring a fluent half-century and with Ajinkya Rahane the duo bailed India out of trouble, finishing Day 3 with the score of 98/3, 298 runs ahead of the English total. Rahane was batting on 22.
With two full days remaining in the Test, it will require a monumental effort from the English side to make a match out of it. India, on the other hand, will look to add quick runs to their overnight lead and set England an improbable fourth innings total to chase.
