In what was an exciting chase, India completed a clean sweep thereby winning all the three series i.e. Tests ODIs, and T20Is. They defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in a competitive game for a change. Earlier in the day, it was captain Virat Kohli who won the toss as he elected to field first. India went in with all the three spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel in absence of their all-rounder Hardik Pandya. On the other hand, Sri Lanka picked two spinners Akila Dananjaya and Seekkuge Prasanna.
Batting first, skipper Upul Tharanga was bowled in the third over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This didn’t affect them as they were on a hitting spree. Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals and at the same time maintained a brisk run rate.
While Niroshan Dickwella and Angelo Mathews were dismissed quickly, Dilshan Munaweera scored a splendid 53 runs from just 29 balls with four maximums. Ashan Priyanjan scored a run-a-ball 40 as the rest of the batting order faltered one after the other. Sri Lanka still managed to score 170/7 in their 20 overs.
As for India, they were reduced to 42/2 inside the powerplay overs. For the first time in the series since the Akila Dananjaya spell, India were under some pressure. However, the best man in the business while chasing, Virat Kohli stepped up again scoring a magnificent 82 runs from just 54 balls.
While Kohli got out towards the end of the chase, Manish ensured the winning runs were scored in style. With the winning boundary, he also went on to strike an amazing half century. Team India chased the total with 4 balls to spare as they won the T20I series 1-0.
For Sri Lanka, Lasith Malinga, Isuru Udana and Seekkuge Prasanna got a wicket each. This game marked the end of the Indian tour to Sri Lanka. While it was a tour full of positives for India, it has been the exact opposite for the hosts who would’ve to do a lot to get over this clean sweep.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions during the course of the game:
Kuldeep proving to be the best of all the Indian spinners on show. Just another day.

When everyone is getting smashed, Kuldeep goes for 20 runs and picks up 2. You can see why I keep banging my head about his selection.

Some scintillating batting by Munaweera. India will want Kuldeep to bowl to him. Not going to have Bumrah back before 16th.

So what did Munaweera learn today? If you have bat in hand, you score runs!

Appreciate paryanjan.Even in T20 you need someone who could bat sensibly and take care of one end. Good job. #SLvsInd

Got to give it to Russell. 8-0 down in series, 15 needed off 13 with 8 wickets in hand & he still says, "you never know".#SLvInd #SLvsInd

Not convinced with Pandey for T20s yet, maybe he needs to breathe a bit while batting, appears too tense.#Slvsind
