The trading window for the franchises to retain players for the VIVO Indian Premier League 2016 season between December 15-31, 2015 for the upcoming season of the Indian domestic T20 league.
Overall, 101 cricketers including 37 overseas players have been retained by the VIVO IPL franchises. There were many surprises today as numerous high profile players including Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Dale Steyn, Dinesh Karthik and Aaron Finch and many others were not retained by their respective franchises.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released the most number of players- 14 while Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) released 10 players each. The auction has become very interesting as all these players who were not retained will go under the hammer during the auctions.
By releasing some of the most expensive players the franchises now have made a considerable provision in their wallets to go with a strategy in the auction. The Daredevils after releasing Yuvraj Singh along with 9 others have a balance purse of INR 36,85,00,000 while KXIP have INR 23,00,00,000, the balance at the hands of the KKR team is INR 17,95,00,000.
Mumbai Indians- INR 14,40,50,000, RCB- INR 21,62,50,000 and the Sun Risers Hyderabad have INR 30,15,00,000 in their pocket to pick a brand new squad for the 9th season of the Indian Premier League.
