In what can be called as a run fest at Lauderhill, an astounding 489 runs were scored in the game. The match began with Dhoni winning the toss as he elected to field first. India had Binny in their playing XI while West Indies had Gayle out due to an injury.

Batting first, West Indies openers were off to a flier as they started taking things from the first over itself. While Charles scored a magnificent 79 runs from 33 balls, Lewis scored a scintillating century in just 48 balls. In what was a splendid display of pinch hitting, WI were 164/1 in 11 overs at one stage.

Binny was taken to the cleaners by Lewis as he was hit for 5 sixes in the only over he bowled. Towards the end, Jadeja and Bumrah bowled well and restricted Windies to 246. All the other bowlers were quite expensive as Windies went on to hit 21 sixes in their innings.

If anyone thought this was going to be a one-sided encounter after such a mammoth total, then this was an utter surprise for him. While Rohit began well, Rahane and more impressive India’s premier batsman Kohli got out which left India reeling at 48/2.

Walking in at No.4, KL Rahul played one of the most sensational innings ever as he went on to score 110 runs from just 51 balls. While Rohit departed after playing a wonderful knock of 62 from 28 balls, Dhoni came in and started smashing boundaries as well.

At one stage, it seemed that India had pulled it off. However, Bravo with his slower deliveries successfully defended 8 runs in the last over as Dhoni got out in the final delivery as he needed 2 from the last ball. The West Indies won the game by just one run in what turned out to be a heartbreaker for the Indian fans.

Twitter had most of the fun with some enthralling tweets throughout the game. Right from trolling Binny to lauding Lewis, right from trolling Rahane to lauding KL Rahul.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
