While all three results look somewhat possible at the end of Day 4, the probability of a draw is the highest.

The ongoing first Test between West Indies and England is panning out like a rollercoaster. The Caribbean team looked in command after gaining a 64-run lead in the first innings. However, the visitors bounced back in their second innings, ending Day 4 on 217/1. England, as of now, have a 153-run lead and it would be interesting to see how the final day pans out.
While all three results look somewhat possible at the end of Day 4, the probability of a draw is the highest. Meanwhile, the penultimate day of the contest belonged to England opener Zak Crawley, who advanced to his second Test century. It was a much-needed ton for the youngster as he hasn’t been doing well in whites lately. At the same time, skipper Joe Root walked back unbeaten of 84 and he won’t mind getting the three-figure mark either.
Earlier in the day, West Indies resumed at their overnight score of 373/9 and could add only two runs before losing their final wicket in form of Jayden Seales. However, they had earned a substantial-looking 64-run lead. Moreover, England lost their new opener and debutant Alex Lees (6) cheaply in their second innings.
Zak Crawley, Joe Root steadied the ship for England
Nonetheless, Crawley joined forces with his skipper and since then it was one-way traffic. The duo played some delightful shots all over the park as Caribbean bowlers failed to pierce their defenses. In the process, Crawley brought up his second Test ton and looked delighted after getting the landmark. He didn’t lose his concentration and remained unbeaten on 117 at stumps.
On the other hand, skipper Root (84) extended his purple patch in Test cricket and brought up yet another 50-plus score. The veteran batter looks all set to slam his 24th Test but runs on Day 5 aren’t likely to come easy. In order to get a result, England will have to do some quick scoring in the morning session of the final day before declaring their innings. The onus will be then on their bowlers to take 10 wickets.
As far as West Indies are concerned, they will look to inflict a batting collapse and then chase the total. However, as mentioned above, an outcome of this game looks highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to the proceedings of Day 5:

Zak Crawley didn’t just have a few low scores for everyone to say he wasn’t playing well, he batted 16 times in 2021 and averaged 10. He’s played VERY well today and that’s great but let’s not get too carried away here. #WIvENG
