One of the clubs with a massive fan base, but very few accolades to reflect on the former, Royal Challengers Bangalore have a lot to do. The 2018 IPL Auction kick-started with a lot of surprises and stunning buys from the franchises. As everyone expected, Ben Stokes raked up the highest bid of Rs. 12.5 Crore and will be joining Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane at the Rajasthan Royals camp.

One thing that amazed everyone is the inactiveness of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who picked just one player as the Auction heads towards the Lunch break. This indeed is very surprising as they are another one of those sides who need to do a lot of rebuilding. Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori is the head coach of the side and he roped in his former colleague Brendon McCullum at Rs. 3.6 Crore.

That might just prove to be a masterstroke as McCullum will probably open alongside Virat Kohli and that will be one to watch out for. A team known for their star-studded ropings, the RCB are just about hanging in and saving their best for the later stages.

Gayle goes unsold; RCB let go KL Rahul

Two of the biggest players involved with the RCB last season, Christopher Henry Gayle and KL Rahul won’t be dawning the red and black jersey this season. Whilst Gayle went unsold and the RCB fans will still be hoping for him to comeback, KL Rahul went for a whopping Rs. 11 Crore to the Kings XI Punjab.

They later on started bidding for Chris Lynn, but the Knight Riders were too determined to get his services. Eventually, RCB lost him but they were ready to pay him as much as Rs. 9.4 Crore. Barring this, they didn’t get involved in any major player battle. Whilst Kings XI Punjab remained the most active participant in the auction, the RCB remained silent for a major while.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted to their inactive participation
