Ahmed Shehzad made his Pakistan debut way back in 2009 but hasn’t been able to turn into an indispensable member of the national team. Since his foray into the highest level of cricket, the Lahore-born batsman has only played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 57 T20Is in which he has racked 982, 2605 and 1454 runs respectively. He also was a part of the team during the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Down Under.

Nevertheless, his career has never shaped up and his performances have also been questioned on a number of occasions. He was dropped from the Test squad during the national team’s tour of England back in 2016, this time on disciplinary issues along with the likes of Umar Akmal. At the age of 26, he still has a fair amount of opportunity to resurrect his stop-start journey.

End of the road for Shehzad?

However, as per a recent development, the batsman may find himself in an unwanted loop as he has been tested positive for the consumption of a banned substance. The news broke out yesterday night, however, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) isn’t ready to file a charge-sheet against Shehzad and is awaiting the revelation of the chemical from the Anti-Doping Agency of the government.

Meanwhile, Zainab Abbas, a Pakistani sports journalist, mentioned in her tweet that Ahmed Shehzad smoked Marijuana, an addictive drug. The test was conducted during the Pakistan Cup, which took place between April and May.

Previously cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammed Asif, and Raza Hasan was also found guilty of the same offense and were slapped with bans. Pakistani cricket’s reputation has already been tarnished owing to frequent controversies and the recent incident isn’t expected to do any good to their reputation either.

Meanwhile, the supporters are frenzied by how things have panned out. They took to Twitter and bashed Shehzad left, right and center.

Here are the reactions
