Kamran Akmal made headlines late last year after he wanted to meet the Prime Minister of Pakistan and urge him to get him selected in the national team again. Akmal last played for Pakistan in the World T20 2014 and was ignored for three years. He kept piling runs in domestic cricket but to no avail.
Rumours say that he eventually met Nawaz Sharif and pleaded for a national recall. Akmal was the highest run-getter in the PSL which culminated to Peshawar Zalmi’s title win. As luck would have it, Akmal was recalled into the ODI and T20 squads for the West Indies tour as a specialist batsman in March this year. After having a middling series, where he scored 136 runs in 5 innings across both formats, the 35-year old was subsequently dropped for the Champions Trophy. People have often linked his international comeback to his possible meeting with the PM early this year.
Suresh Raina’s picture with Mr Narendra Modi in Netherlands is trending on Twitter. Raina, currently holidaying in Netherlands, met the Prime Minister in Amsterdam and posted a picture of the same on his account.
Delighted to meet the man with golden vision @narendramodi on his exceptionally constructive visit to the #Netherlands. #ModiInNetherlands pic.twitter.com/tQPsmvUQlx

A Twitter user saw the funny side to this and related the situation with Kamran Akmal. In a humorous manner, the user, through a series of pictures, has tried to point out that Raina has taken a leaf out of Kamran Akmal’s book and met the PM to speak of his international comeback. This obviously is not true but the post can leave most people in splits.

Raina has been struggling to win his place in the Indian team back. He last played in an ODI almost 2 years ago in October 2015. He scored 442 runs in 14 games at an average of 40.18 and a strike rate of almost 144 in the IPL this year and still couldn’t find a place in the ICC Champions Trophy squad. He was kept as one of the 5 standby players who were eventually not required at any stage.
