MS Dhoni is a colossal name in Indian cricket, but the recent times have given him some difficulties. The 38-year-old last took the cricket field way back in the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. Martin Guptill ran him out in the dying stages of India’s semi-final against New Zealand after which Dhoni went on a sabbatical. He also served the Indian army in the Kashmir Valley.
Meanwhile, there has been loads of speculations surrounding his future in the national team. Talks about his retirement has been doing the rounds for quite some time now. But Dhoni hasn’t come out yet with a concrete news. MSK Prasad, the national chief selector, said that the team management has moved on from the veteran and is looking forward to grooming Rishabh Pant.
No central contract for MS Dhoni
Dhoni’s next assignment is likely to be the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Harsha Bhogle, the renowned cricket journalist, feels that a good IPL season could see things changing for the wicket-keeper batsman. Amidst all the rumours, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the centrally contracted cricketers.
To the shock of many, Dhoni didn’t find a place in any of the categories, A+, A, B and C. The decision has drawn mixed reactions from the netizens. In the meantime, Kamaal Rashid Khan, the Bollywood actor and self-proclaimed critic, had some stern words for Dhoni. He said that by removing Dhoni from the contract, the world’s richest cricket board threw him away.
Khan said that Dhoni had the chance of retiring with dignity, but he didn’t. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Today #BCCI threw out @msdhoni like many other players in the past. I strongly believed that #MSDhoni will retire with dignity and respect unlike all other players. But he followed other players only “Ki Jab Tak Dhakke Markar Nahi Nikaloge, Tab Tak Nahi Nikloonga”! #VerySad!”

Stop talking shit for cheap publicity. He’s a legend and the only captain to win all icc trophies. Have some respect ass. He took a break and that’s why he’s not in the list. FYI he can still run faster than almost everyone in the team. He will play for India again and win games.

He didn't deserve this. But yes, he was asking for this. BCCI only obliged him. So there.
